The U.S. Army has developed Hand-to-Hand Combat (combatives) training with the aim of ensuring soldiers are resilient and adaptable to evolving conditions, fostering confidence in their abilities, and arming them with the requisite skills to excel in challenging environments.

Transitioning from the original version, the Army has revamped its program to emphasize a diversified martial arts approach known as the Modern Army Combatives Program (MACP). While still incorporating the legacy Field Manual 21-150 stemming from WWII experiences, the program now centers on the modern MACP curriculum.

What sets MACP apart from conventional martial arts training is its strong emphasis on cultivating practical fighting prowess. Both the mental and physical aspects of the training are valued for their contribution to molding more proficient soldiers, bridging the gap between physical conditioning and tactical proficiency. The essentials of a robust physical training scheme – strength, endurance, and flexibility – are channeled towards enhancing combat skills.

The fundamental fight strategy of MACP is delineated into three phases:
<ul>
 <li>Close the distance</li>
 <li>Gain dominant position</li>
 <li>Finish the fight</li>
</ul>

To achieve this, MACP leverages the concept of positional dominance from Jiu-Jitsu, extending it across various combat ranges while integrating techniques from wrestling, boxing, Muay Thai, judo, among others. Moreover, lessons in weapons combat sourced from Kali, western martial arts, and insights from Army Rangers' infantry experiences have been incorporated.

Complementing the training material are video clips for reinforcement and fitness calculators to enhance your workout regimen. For enthusiasts of hand-to-hand combat and military instruction, this app presents an invaluable resource worth exploring.
